Getting Fibre

Fibre internet connections are much faster, cheaper, and more stable than any other type of internet connection.

Since 2008, the New Zealand government has contracted a company called 'Chorus' to install fibre to most city and residental streets throughout the country. If Chorus has installed Fibre in your street, we can provide ultra-fast fibre internet to your home.

In many cases, Fibre is already connected from the street to inside your home - if this is the case, there should be a Chorus fibre panel (called an O.N.T.) mounted inside on a wall somewhere.

If your home already has an ONT we can connect you to the internet within a few hours - you just need a compatible Wifi router to get you going. We can supply you with a new Wifi router, or you might be able to use your previous Wifi router if you bring it in to our office for us to reprogram.

However, if your street has Fibre but your home isn't connected to it, we can log a job for you with Chorus to install it.

Fibre Alternatives

If fibre isn't yet available at your address, we can still provide high-speed internet to your home using wireless microwave technology - basically, installing a small antenna on your roof. This is the same way we connect to customers in more rural areas.

Chorus Fibre Panel (ONT)

This panel, or 'ONT', is installed and maintained by Chorus. It converts the light from the fibre optic cable into data that your computer can read. There are several different models that Chorus use, but they all do the same job. ONT stands for 'Optical Network Terminal'.
