Beefing up the Backbone

Gisborne Net has a Digital Microwave Radio network which connects Wairoa, inland Poverty Bay, Gisborne and Mount Hikurangi in the Northern East Cape. As demand for internet services – web, email, phone, mobile, audio and video streaming – has increased the capacity of the network has been upgraded to meet the needs of an ever expanding and more digitally sophisticated customer base. In the last two years capacity of the backbone has been increased by up to 600% and we foresee this demand increasing exponentially over the next few years. In a region which has been largely bypassed by fibre services, Gisborne Net is delivering results which approach (and sometimes exceed) fibre performance. Our rural customers need business grade internet and our expansion program is targeted to deliver a premium service.
